About Me
Production History
Guess I should fill this thing in since I am staff and have been on the boards for like six years. Well, where to start. I suppose I should start at the beginning. I began music production in 1998/1999 using a simple program called Tuareg, Hammerhead and DDClip. Needless to say I think, the music was not very good. I then moved onto using FL Studio 2.3 and eventually settled on using Buzz Tracker around 2002. It was also around this time that I began to really find my sound in music and took an interest in DJ'ing.
I bought myself a pair of Numark 1520's and began some basic vinyl mixing. I quickly found that I was not particularly good at DJ'ing, but it was a nice release and did direct me towards a performance art I was good at, and that was LivePA. Now as I mentioned before around the 2003 period I sort of found my sound and that was an ambient sort of techno or IDM. I was producing under the moniker of M.A.S. Productions at the time and was doing moderately well. As is the case with just about anything I do though I quickly grew bored of the music I was producing and consequently sort of produced no music in 2004. This period was also a period where I really began to research more into LivePA and how I could perform live. I acquired the gear needed to to live and soon there after made a transition to only hardware music production, abandoning software production.
Over the next several years during this period I focused primarily on performing live, taking my same ambient techno/IDM musical style from cafe's to outdoor festivals. Truth be told I quickly became frustrated with the "scene" as it were because most venues were not looking for a downtempo act. This lead me to another paradigm shift in my musical journey, one that ended in 2008 with another year of no production. It was clearing of the head so to speak.
That generally leaves us to where we are today. 2009 was a moderately productive year, with a focus shift of my music moving slightly in the dance genre. As I wrap up my net EP from 2009, I hope in the new year (decade even) to refocus my energies back into my downtempo roots while also dipping my toes into the software realm again.
Blogging History
For almost as long as I have been producing I have been blogging in some form or another. For the past several years I have run the LivePA blog, which has recently run into disrepair, mainly due to my disinterest in maintaining it. I have experimented with Podcasting through the Electronic Musician Podcast (TEM) and my new site Orju.net. The podcasting has not taken off as I had hoped and the Orju project is currently undergoing modifications to re-focus on the Tracker development world. How that turns out we can only guess over the next year.
